Exhaust Brake assembly
The principle of the exhaust brake assembly is to achieve the braking effect by converting the engine into an air compressor, which consumes the kinetic energy of the vehicle. Specifically, when the exhaust brake is activated, the fuel nozzle stops pumping oil (only for the EFI III engine, the older II engine may continue to supply oil), but the engine is still working and constantly sucking in fresh air. At this point, the butterfly valve in the exhaust system closes, blocking the exhaust manifold, causing the pressure in the exhaust manifold to rise to 4-6 atmospheres. The power source of the engine becomes the inertia force of the vehicle, rather than the energy generated by the combustion of the mixture. At this time, the engine piston is compressing the high-pressure air in the exhaust pipe, constantly consuming the kinetic energy of the vehicle, so as to achieve the purpose of slowing down the speed .
The structure of the exhaust brake assembly includes components such as the engine, fuel injectors, and butterfly valves in the exhaust system. When the exhaust brake is activated, the fuel injector stops injecting fuel and the engine continues to work and suck in fresh air. The butterfly valve in the exhaust system closes, blocking the exhaust manifold and causing the pressure in the exhaust manifold to increase. At this time, the engine's power source becomes the vehicle's inertial force, and the piston compresses the high-pressure air in the exhaust pipe, consuming the vehicle's kinetic energy and achieving a braking effect.
